Leading neuropsychologist and author Dr Rachel Gow launches pioneering new clinic dedicated to brain health, neurodiversity and emotional wellbeing

One of the UK’s leading experts in nutritional neuroscience, ADHD and emotional wellbeing has launched a pioneering new clinic designed to help adults, children and families better understand the connection between the brain, body and mental health.

Dr Rachel Gow — neuropsychologist, registered nutritionist, published researcher and author of Smart Foods for ADHD & Brain Health — has officially launched Nutritious Minds Clinic, a specialist clinic with expert practitioners focused on brain-gut-metabolic-hormone health, ADHD and neurodivergence, healthy ageing and emotional wellbeing.

The clinic takes a personalised, holistic, evidence-informed approach, bringing together leading experts across nutritional psychiatry, neuroscience, and psychology to help people better understand how factors such as nutrition, hormones, gut health, sleep, stress, and lifestyle may influence focus, mood, emotional regulation, and overall cognitive performance.

Having long recognised that individuals with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) struggle with emotional regulation, Dr Gow has a niche focus on nervous system support for not only neurodivergence, but anyone struggling with anxiety, low mood, brain fog, and overwhelm.

After spending more than 20 years working with children, adults and families navigating ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, anxiety, emotional regulation challenges and wellbeing issues, Dr Gow created the clinic in response to the growing number of people struggling with modern life, a lack of expert support, and credible practitioners. The clinic has been designed to offer an integrated and compassionate approach to wellbeing, recognising the growing body of research exploring the links between nutrition, the gut-brain connection, inflammation, nervous system regulation, hormones, sleep and cognitive health.

Dr Gow graduated from The Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London in 2012, and her career has included research roles at internationally respected institutions, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Washington DC, where she co-designed and led a 4-year pioneering clinical trial investigating the impact of omega-3 fatty acids on brain activity of adults with ADHD using neuroimaging technology.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr Gow has provided talks at leading academic institutions, including the University of Oxford, Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.). She has also lectured at the University of Surrey and St Mary’s University, and is widely recognised for helping bridge the gap between neuroscience, nutrition and emotional wellbeing in a way that feels practical, compassionate and accessible.

Nutritious Minds Clinic brings together a multidisciplinary team of specialists to offer support across ADHD, neurodiversity, emotional regulation, anxiety, burnout, stress, sleep, cognitive wellbeing, and family health, while helping individuals better understand the biological and lifestyle factors that may be affecting how they think, feel, and function.

Speaking about the launch of the clinic, Dr Rachel Gow says:

“Over the years, I’ve seen a huge increase in the number of people struggling with emotional overwhelm, anxiety, stress, burnout and attention difficulties, particularly among women and young people.

At the same time, we are learning much more about the connection between the brain and body, and how factors such as fascia (connective tissue), immune system function (mast cells), nutrition, sleep, the gut microbiome, hormones, and nervous system regulation may influence emotional and cognitive well-being.

As a mother of 2 (now adult) neurodivergent children, I I understood the intense struggle attached to these conditions. I wanted to make a difference for other individuals, parents, and families who were often passed from pillar to post, unsure where to go or who to turn to. My aim was to create a clinic that brought these areas together in a more integrated, holistic, personalised and credible way. So many people feel dismissed, misunderstood or unsupported, particularly women navigating hormonal changes and families trying to support children with emotional regulation and attention challenges. We are genuinely here to help, with extra doses of empathy and support.

Nutritious Minds Clinic has been created to offer accessible, compassionate, holistic and evidence-informed online support that helps people better understand themselves and feel empowered to take care of their brain health and wellbeing.”

The launch comes at a time when awareness around ADHD, ASD and neurodivergence is growing rapidly. NHS England estimates around 2.5 million people in England may have ADHD, while more than half a million people are currently waiting for assessments and support.

Services offered through Nutritious Minds Clinic include psychological support, referral for psychiatric diagnoses, nutritional therapy, emotional regulation strategies, neuroscience-informed well-being support, dietary interventions, functional medicine tests, educational support and coaching by our SEN expert and teacher, and family-focused care tailored to both adults and children.

Alongside the clinic, Nutritious Minds has launched the Nutritious Minds Podcast with expert-led talks. The first episode features Professor Michael Crawford, Dr Simon Dyall, Dr Alex Richardson and Dr Kevin Rigley on The Future of Brain Health!
